HvA Amsterdam Lab
Launched in September 2017, LabGov Amsterdam was founded by a group of Dutch city-makers seeking new, more direct forms of democracy. They drew inspiration from the LabGov project on co-governance schemes in Bologna and applied to the capital city of the Netherlands the Co-City methodology, based on the quintuple helix concept, which refers to the 5 main actors involved in the urban co-management process. Their projects have been carried out in the lively Nieuw West neighbourhood, which turned out to be perfect laboratory for testing emerging ways of collaboratively managing the urban commons. Their community-led research and practice aims at establishing innovative governance structures by combining a rigorous scientific method to the needs and know-how of local stakeholders.
