Il Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche della LUISS “Guido Carli” e il Labsus – Laboratorio per la sussidiarietà danno il via alla seconda edizione di LabGov. Un’esperienza formativa rivolta agli studenti dei corsi di Laurea Magistrale del Dipartimento di Scienze Politiche della LUISS.
Nelle istituzioni, nelle imprese e nelle organizzazioni del non profit c’è sempre più bisogno di nuove competenze e professionalità capaci di affrontare nuovi temi e sfide della società. Frequentare LabGov significa percorrere il primo passo per diventare professionisti dell’amministrazione condivisa dei beni comuni. Esperti di governance capaci di comprendere il contesto socio-economico, gestire progetti complessi e facilitare il dialogo fra i diversi attori coinvolti nella gestione e protezione di un bene comune.

Ferrero decides to use sustainable palm oil, and save rainforests
Ferrero, Italian leading group in confectionery products, has recently signed the “Ferrero Palm Oil Charter” in which commit itself to strengthen the social responsibility of the Group in order to address the major causes of deforestation and create an optimal balance between the conservation of the environment, the protection of the local community and the continuation of the business.
Thanks to this manifesto Ferrero will be able to guarantee by the end of 2014 to achieving 100% traceable segregated, RSPO-certified palm oil, nearly one year ahead of the original schedule. The RSPO is the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oils an ONG that promotes the production and commercialization of certified sustainable palm oil. Ferrero has been member of the RSPO since 2005.
The palm oil is a raw material very diffused in manufacturing industry. On the one hand Ferrero, that consumes 150.000 tons of palm oil, uses this oil for its organoleptic properties to avoid the use of hydrogenated fats very harmful for human wealth. On the other hand the increasing use of this oil globally have significantly reduced the extension of rainforest and of animals that live there, like the tigers of Sumatra, in Indonesia. According to WWF has been more than 300 million hectares of rainforest that has been destroyed for leaving space to palm oil plantations.
In this respect two important point have to be highlighted in the Charter: the commitment to not use fire to clear land and to protect orang-utans and others endangered species by maintaining High Conservation Value areas. Theses aspects are very important and are linked with two important initiative worth to note: firstly the doc-movie “Green” made by an ordinary citizen trying to help protect the rainforest and all the life it holds. Secondly the report “Licence to kill” made by Greenpeace for documenting the use of fire in the peatsland for deforestation.

A networking area has been created for sharing and improving innovative projects.
“Rete di Reti” or “The Network to the networks” is a new project created by different associations and foundations that aims to share knowledge, competences and experiences in order to develop innovation and learning activities and to create structured projects for Italy.
The group is composed by more than 30 no profit association and foundations. Among them also ALL Associazione Laureati LUISS and Sensacional. Rete di Reti was born with the final objective of sharing resources avoiding the loss of chances. Being part of an network reduce the dissipation of energies and competences and at the same time improve the possibility of every organizations.
For realizing this idea, Fondazione Italiana Accenture, through its online platform for innovation IdeaTRE60, create a social networking area, in which is possible for the members to collaborate and share their projects and programs, improving coherence at national level. Innovation and learning are the two central concept of the project.
One of the next commitment will be a working table in which will be discussed learning activities for young Italian talents. Italian companies needed assistance for internationalization. Rete di Reti intends promote stage and internship abroad, especially in China, for training young Italian talents. Another next step will be a project of coaching and mentoring for college students aiming at giving vocational guidance for the choice of their life.
The inspiring values are transparency, responsibility and ethic, diffused solidarity and sharing of knowledge and ideas. Moreover is an open network and is possible to join the initiatives for helping to improve.

This has been the question of the conference “Transform the city creating opportunities” that has been held yesterday, 28th October, in the Auditorium Park of the Music organized by the Young Explorer Agency (YEA) a co-working agency in which create, share and improve ideas and experiences with the aim to realize events in urban spaces. This time the objective has been the Flaminio quarter of Rome. According to the YEA the Flaminio quarter is a natural place in which both artistic and musical creativity and sport talents flourish, and for this reason it could be the perfect space for creating a Creative City in Rome. One of the main challenge is the requalification of abandoned spaces and buildings. Francesco Ghio of YEA affirms that public administration should cooperate whit citizens and above all youngs for the implementation of a project of requalification of the quarter. The purpose is to revitalize the quarter through art and culture and at the same time enhancing the development of the creative industry. Industry yes, because finally the idea that culture in general and art, music and sport in particular, can create income and well being for the citizens and for the Country is became very diffused. The Young Explorer Agency aims to improve new expertise in the field of culture, art, music and sport through the transformation and regeneration of urban spaces in which all members of the community can participate. Among the discussants there has been also Ignazio Marino, Major of Rome Capital, that spoke about his intention to invest on culture for the requalification of Flaminio, above all he spoke of the creation of the Museum of Science and the requalification of abandoned building of which 20% to be allocated for accommodation.

On October 24th and 25th in the Tuscan city of Chianciano there will be the national assembly of Auser. This voluntary association aims to promote active aging of elderly people and improve their role in society. During the conference there will be the presentation of a programmatic document entitled “Social project for all ages”.
The social situation in Italy is profoundly changed in the last years and for this reason Auser needs to re-evaluate the framework in which operate, and to find new answers for the evolving world. Auser intends to adopt a new approach of “active welfare of the community” in which public and private subjects can collaborate and cooperate and in which State, Third sector and citizens work together for improving the wellbeing of the community. According to Enzo Costa, President of Auser, we can observe a great change in the social situation, including the rise of inequalities, needs and weakness of citizens more at stake. Costa affirms “Auser must be ready and equipped to deal whit it”. In Italy the ageing population is a phenomenon in continuous growth and the resulting economic and social effects are considerable: pension system and health system could become unsustainable. For this reason is important to take more in consideration this aspect of our society, for guaranteeing the wellbeing for over 65 allowing an active aging through the participation in the life of the society.
