City Science Initiative Meeting: “Methodologies for addressing urban challenges in Europe. How academia and cities can jointly create practical impact in cities?” – Amsterdam, November 18th, 2024

City Science Initiative Meeting: “Methodologies for addressing urban challenges in Europe. How academia and cities can jointly create practical impact in cities?” – Amsterdam, November 18th, 2024

On November 18th, 2024 in Amsterdam, Professor Christian Iaione, together with Adriano Contardi, Davide Testa, and Elena De Nictolis, took part in the City Science Initiative Meeting: “𝙈𝙚𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙙𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝙖𝙙𝙙𝙧𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙪𝙧𝙗𝙖𝙣 𝙘𝙝𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙀𝙪𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙚. 𝙃𝙤𝙬 𝙖𝙘𝙖𝙙𝙚𝙢𝙞𝙖 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙘𝙖𝙣 𝙟𝙤𝙞𝙣𝙩𝙡𝙮 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙚 𝙥𝙧𝙖𝙘𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝙞𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙘𝙩 𝙞𝙣 𝙘𝙞𝙩𝙞𝙚𝙨?” – organized by Caroline Nevejan and the City of Amsterdam in collaboration with the UNICA – Network of Universities from the Capitals of Europe and Eurocities.

This workshop aimed to investigate how to better align the goals of academic institutions with the practical needs of cities. To achieve this, it brought together various networks of universities and cities to explore the existing blind spots and identify ways in which these networks can collaborate more effectively.

As researchers from Luiss Guido Carli University and members of the LabGov team, we engaged and discussed, based on the Co-Cities model and approach, focusing on the mission that drives the City Science Initiative and, in Reggio Emilia, the City Science Office Reggio Emilia: uniting local administration and scientific research to build more resilient and innovative cities for the future.
