ECOalTERZO: the new collaboration between the associations of the Municipality III of Rome!

ECOalTERZO: the new collaboration between the associations of the Municipality III of Rome!

Ecology, environment, recycling are elements aimed at sustainability in public spaces, to improve the lives of the communities within their own territory. That’s what happened on February the 3rd at the Council Chamber of the Municipality III of Rome with the presentation of the project ECOalTERZO. During the presentation, the most important associations in the Municipality have dealt about environmental sustainability. ECOalTERZO won the event “Ecology and Culture”, under the call “Cultura in Festa”. This call is part of a major project, led by the Municipality III, called ECOmune. It deals with ecology, with the aim of rethinking the city as a place to live in the pursuit of the enhancement of green spaces, fully functioning public transport, recycling, reuse, and with full awareness and cooperation of citizens. ReBike ALTERmobility and Interazioni Urbane – the two associations that have organised the event – illustrated the activities of ECOalTERZO, which will take place in Municipality during the first four Sundays in March at the Parco Delle Valli. There will be workshops on the recovery of materials, for both children and adults. Then, there will be organised lunch at the park, the “Coffee Project” (round tables on territorial issues), and concerts. At the end of the meeting, a group photo was taken, to highlight a cooperation that could be the beginning of a great work that aims to give a strong contribution to the improvement of the territory.

Concerning associations involved in the organization of the event, ReBike ALTERmobility promotes social collaboration. It is registered at the Lazio Regional associations (ARTES). The main aim of ReBike is to support and promote the culture of sustainable mobility in the city, particularly in the city of Rome;

Interazioniurbane is an association of social promotion, composed of young architects and enriched by professionals from other social disciplines. It aims at the development, promotion and implementation of projects of social solidarity, including the implementation of educational and cultural initiatives. The Association also pursues the objective of international cooperation in the areas of rehabilitation and urban regeneration. An example of it could be the project SOTTOilVIADOTTO, which represents the transformation of an urban space degraded and abandoned in a place of exchange and participation of citizens. During that project, LabGov participated organising workshops on activities for supporting the participatory design of the space. LabGov also illustrated how is it possible to realize a collaborative governance of a public space.

Per quanto concerne invece il lavoro delle associazioni coinvolte nell’organizzazione dell’incontro, ReBike ALTERmobility è un’associazione di promozione sociale iscritta al registro regionale del Lazio dell’associazionismo (ARTES);

Bologna launches a consultation on school meals services

Bologna launches a consultation on school meals services

The City of Bologna launched a participative process for the definition of the guidelines on school meals services. For the first time all the aspects concerning the school meals program, such as quality of meals, priority on investments, monitoring system and customer needs, will be defined through a participatory process. In fact, the opinions and comments expressed by citizens during the online consultation will be integrated in the Guidelines for the development of the school canteen service.

The City School Meals Commission, established in 2013 thanks to the alliance between families, the City, the Health Local Service and SE.Ri.BO (the mixed-capital local school meals food service company), drafted a document titled “Guidelines for the development of the school meals service”. The document announces that “school age is the time when the child sets up and consolidates the eating habits. It is in this stage of life that collaboration between institutions, family and school can contribute to the development of a healthy eating style which continues and persists into adulthood. Proper nutrition combined with regular physical activity can prevent excess weight and reduce the risk of developing adult chronic diseases”.

Therefore, there is full awareness that the Municipality of Bologna has an important role in the determination of quality food and educating the younger generation and their families to proper nutrition, preventing the risks of chronic diseases. Now, the process is open to all citizens who can express their ideas and introduce any additions to the document.

To participate:

  1. Join the community “Comunità” of Rete Civica > Access to “Comunità”
  2. Express your preferences in each section of the document.

Particularly, it is possible to send contributions about six main topics:

  1. Quality of alimentation
  2. Staff employed
  3. Investments
  4. Environmental Sustainability
  5. Customer services
  6. Monitoring and evaluation

  2. personale impiegato
  3. investimenti

PopUp Lab – Join the Call for ideas 2015!

Did you ever imagine a space, a street, an abandoned area, a neighborhood or a city center where boarded-up shops have changed the face of a city? Are you an administrator, an association or a group of citizens who want to take steps to strengthen their communities? Join the Pop_Up Lab Call for ideas 2015!

By networking creativity, POP UP Lab triggers an innovative process to consider the future of the contemporary city in an informal, open and engaging way. By doing so, it creates a favorable environment that make the leap from experimentation to policy. POP UP Lab is a laboratory for testing new practices that challenge emptying of the old town and its symbol: the boarded-up shops.

In Tuscany, municipalities are revitalizing the city starting from unused spaces and networks of relationships that local communities are able to express. Through the re-opening of the temporary vacant commercial funds (for social, cultural and artistic reasons), POP UP Lab enhances collaboration between owners, governments and citizens.

To do that, it implements a social and cultural experiment: to give a new life to the city by inviting those who have an interesting idea concerning a temporarily use of one of the many closed-end funds to the historical center. The initiative harnesses the creativity of all social resources: the City and private spaces. Through a call for ideas, citizens fielding ideas and translate into reality.

Pop_Up Lab – Call for ideas 2015

Partecipa alla Pop_Up Lab Call for ideas 2015! See more at: http://nova.ilsole24ore.com/progetti/la-governance-collaborativa-rianima-il-centro-storico#sthash.Q5oTFeHP.dpuf).

GREEN UNIVERSITIES – Sustainable Universities World Ranking

GREEN UNIVERSITIES – Sustainable Universities World Ranking

The UI GreenMetric World University Ranking is an initiative of Universitas Indonesia which is being launched in 2010. As part of its strategy of raising its international standing, the University hosted an International Conference on World University Rankings on 16 April 2009. It invited a number of experts on world university rankings. We were aware that a number of top world universities, for example Harvard, Chicago, Copenhagen have been taking steps to manage and improve their sustainability. There are also cooperative efforts among groups of universities. A grading system which includes information on sustainability at 300 universities exists under the title the United States Green Report Card. This is excellent, however, results are given in terms of a grade (A to F) rather than a ranking and the number of universities included is relatively circumscribed. We saw the need for a uniform system that would be suitable to attract the support of thousands of the world’s universities and where the results were based on a numerical score that would allow ranking so that quick comparisons could be made among them on the criteria of their commitment to addressing the problems of sustainability and environmental impact.

International Crowdfunding as a model originally conceived

International Crowdfunding as a model originally conceived

The international crowdfunding  in 2013 came to 5 billion according to data released in Las Vegas, at the second international convention on the subject, anticipated by Adnkronos, after that in 2012 this mode of raising funds allowed to drain away over Internet $ 2.7 billion which doubled at the end of the year. At the convention, said Alessandro Lerro, representative of our country, “Italy looks like a leader, having implemented first in comprehensive legislation on equity crowdfunding, namely the collection by internet venture capital, for innovative start-ups. Italy – continues Lerro – provides a legal framework extremely protective for the retail investor, a clear and defined environment, supervised by CONSOB, suitable to provide the necessary certainty to all players in the market. Moreover, the legislation Italian has a strong international profile, allowing all European companies, with shareholders of any nationality, to participate in crowdfunding in Italy as proponents or as platforms, in addition to admit investments from anywhere in the world. “It adds Lerro, “an important opportunity which for now is limited to innovative companies, but that could be extended to all companies, according to the model originally conceived by the Jobs Act in the US.”

Remember that last July 12th, 2013, CONSOB published the Regulation on “raising venture capital from firms innovative start-ups through online portals” (equity crowdfunding). The Regulation defines a series of obligations relating to the conduct of licensed operators and to provide information to enable investors to reasonably understand the nature of the investment and make decisions in an informed way.

Moreover, these are other top crowdfunding campaigns of 2013:

3D Printing: As one of the most popular categories in 2013, 3D Printing saw many projects top the ‘most funded’ boards on both Indiegogo and Kickstarter; Smart watches: Following the runaway success of the Pebble watch in 2012, the smart watch was another hot category for crowdfunding this year; Location devices : With the advent of Bluetooth Low Energy, a number of devices have cropped up that allow you to track the whereabouts of your possessions so that if you lose something, it’s easier to recover it; Photography: A number of new technologies emerged in 2013 thanks to crowdfunding that allow new types of photography for the normal user, such as time lapse helpers, light painting sticks and other new form factors; Software: Hardware might be more popular on crowdfunding, but it doesn’t mean great software projects don’t get funded.
