Friday 11th November,2016, the labgovers have taken part in the third session of co-working guided by the advices of professor Paola Santoro.
The session started with the report concerning the on-the-spot- investigations made by the students the 8th and 10th of November at the archaeological park of Centocelle and its surroundings. Their impressions and considerations were different, and this was also due to the fact that some people belonging to associations active in the area appeared to be hostile to the actions of Labgov. Despite these episodes, the students agreed on the fact that there is a clear feeling of uneasiness and resignation regarding the Park and its neighbourhood.
Following this report made by the students, Paola Santoro taught them how to use the Value Proposition Canvas, a tool extremely useful in the field of facilitation of common goods. The following task for the students in fact, was targeting the needs, the fears, the wants and the substitutes connected to the park, and placing them inside the model. Despite the difficulties found in the choice of the best category to fit each concept, the results have been quite similar across the different groups. The session concluded focusing on the activities of the following day, which would have been devoted to find solutions for the many problems of the area.

After a workshop, an intense session of co-working, and some work on field in the community garden, the labgovers are ready for the second workshop of this year. On Friday, November 4th, from 4 to 6.30 PM, an interesting workshop will be held by Simone D’Antonio, italian journalist and communicator, and responsible for the activities of the Italian URBACT National Dissemination Point.
Simone will focus on the impact that european projects dedicated to the cities, like Urbact, and global initiatives on cities, like Habitat III, have on the new possible narrations of urban phenomena.

On Wednesday, November 2nd, Engage Liverpool is going to host the final event of Engage Seminar Series 2016, a series of 3 transformational seminars, designed to empower people and bring about a more engaged and active populace.
Professor Christian Iaione, LabGov’s co-founder, will be the main speaker of the Seminar, and he will be talking about how people are bringing about real change in Bologna and other Italian cities. The main question to be looked at during this last event, in fact, is “how cities are governed”.
The whole Seminar Series is focusing on how city centre residents can challenge and change prevailing attitudes around consumerism, individualism and fatalism and in the process become citizens, neighbours and collaborators in governing the city.

From October 20th to 22th Paris is hosting the 3rd IASC Conference on knowledge commons. The Conference is co-organized by the INCLUSIVE team at Sciences Po Paris and the International Association for the Study of the Commons.
After the successful editions held in 2012 and 2014, this third conference will aim to look at the normative effects and institutionalization of the many initiatives based on knowledge commons and how commons provide new legal tools, public policy choices, and forms of social, economic and governance innovations.
The conference is divided into 6 tracks:
- Track 1: Commons Policies and international law
- Track 2: Commons as a new concept in intellectual property
- Track 3: Indigenous and local communities’ knowledge and social practices
- Track 4: Commons in knowledge production and dissemination
- Track 5: Scientific research as a commons
- Track 6: Knowledge commons and the city
LabGov will attend the conference with its co-founder Christian Iaione, who will be presenting a paper about “The urban commons as infrastructure to produce urban knowledge as a commons” (co-written with Elena De Nictolis) during Track 6.

From October 18th to 19th in Athens is taking place a meeting of the Social Affair Forum, organized by EUROCITIES, the network of major european cities.
The meeting will focus on Creative Citizenship as a priority for the EU.
As a result of the economic and humanitarian crisis, new forms of solidarity, civic commitment and innovation have developed in many cities. The creative citizenship working group will look at how cities are working with civil societies in order to co-create solutions to local challenges.
