The fourth module of the Urban Clinic EDU@LabGov took place on Friday the 29th and Saturday the 30th of March into the Viale Romania Campus of LUISS University. The workshop has inaugurated the fourth module of the course. The module was dedicated to “Urban experimentalism and service design” and foresaw a focus on the Mediterranean Diet and Nutraceutics. Indeed, the workshop hosted two important experts on these themes: Dr. Daniela Patti and prof. Lorenzo Maria Donini, while the co-working session was introduced by mr. Vincenzo Maria Capelli, urban agriculture entrepreneur and former World Champion of boating, and it was facilitated by Dr. Alessandro Piperno, PhD in Economics – Luiss and by dr. Arianna Centofanti expert in GDPR from the Law Firm Giplex. The experts have been invited on the basis of the ideas elaborated by the Labgovers that, as we know, are working on cooperative and digital gardens and platforms, in order to promote and raise awareness about sustainable agriculture and nutrition in the cities, through the urban common gardens.
WORKSHOP
Dr. Daniela Patti is an expert in the urban regeneration and in the collaborative and cooperative planning and co-founder and manager of Eutropian.org Research & Action (http://eutropian.org/). He has collaborated with LabGov in many EU funded projects.
Prof. Lorenzo Maria Donini is an expert in nutritional principles and food science from La Sapienza University where he also teaches in the Medical School.
The workshop was introduced by Dr. Daniela Patti that has explained to the Labgovers many experiences of cooperation in the cities and the new phenomena of Platform Cooperativism. He has talked also about EU projects dedicated to urban context and urban experimentalism, such as URBACT.
Prof. Lorenzo Maria Donini has talked about the uniqueness of the Mediterranean Diet and of its extraordinary benefits. He has also talked about Nutraceutics. These are two relevant themes for the platform that Labgovers are developing because they are themes that are not always known in the cities, especially in the peri-urban areas.
COWORKING
The 4th Module of the Urban Clinic LabGov EDU 2019 continued with the Co-Working session, held on March 30th. The co-working session was facilitated by Alessandro Piperno, Phd in Luiss Guido Carli, by dr. Arianna Centofanti from the law firm Giplex and by the Team of EDU@LabGov.
The Co-Working session took place in the LUISS Campus of Viale Romania and it started at 10 am with mr. Vincenzo Maria Capelli testimony, expert of Confagricoltura (http://www.confagricoltura.it/ita/) and he is an agricultural entrepreneur of the urban gardens and italian boating world champion. He talked to the Labgovers about his professional experience with the “Orti del Canottiere” and the connection between urban agriculture, sport, nutrition, entrepreneurship. In particular, he has turned his passion into a job by creating a garden where sports can be practiced, the most fragile people can be assisted and you can play with animals. This testimony has greatly inspired the LabGovers for the project they are designing.
After this inspirational session, Alessandro Piperno explained the Labgovers of fundings for their idea and the different way to obtain them: elevator pitch, investor pitch, crowdfunding, business plan. Indeed, the LabGovers during the morning developed the business plan of their project. It’s an important passage to complete and improve the idea that they’re developing during this A.A. of the Urban Clinic LabGov EDU. For this reason, the LabGovers were divided into groups in order to produce the business plan.
In the afternoon, the LabGovers talked to dr. Arianna Centofanti, an expert of GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) and member of the GIPLEX law firm, about processing of data and respect for privacy.
Save the date: on 29th and 30th March will take place the fourth module of the Urban Clinic EDU@LabGov in Luiss Guido Carli University. This fourth module is mainly dedicated to ‘Urban Experimentalism’!
On Friday 29th March the workshop will take place in the classroom 305b from 16pm to 18pm in the Luiss Campus.

This will represent an important step in the development of the digital platform that Labgovers have designed in order to raise awareness towards the importance of food, sport and agriculture for individual and collective well-being.
On Saturday 30th March from 10 am to 17 pm in room 310 of the Luiss roman Campus will take place the fourth co-working session. The Urban Clinic will host Vincenzo Maria Capelli, agricultural entrepreneur of the gardens and boating champion from Confagricoltura. He will talk to the Labgovers about his professional experience and the connection between urban agriculture, sport, entrepreneurship. The co-working session will be moderated from Alexander Piperno, PhD Luiss in economics and from the team of EDU@LabGov to support the students in order to add new wedges to the idea that they are developing and to strengthen the sustainability model.
Saturday, March 23 2019, the second community gardening session of the Urban Clinic EDU LabGov has taken place in Luiss community garden #ortoLuiss. This appointment, as the first one, was dedicated to the “self-construction” Lab. Labgovers used this appointment in Luiss University to keep on developing and building their prototypes. This is how they are declining Sustainable innovation in the urban context.
Labgovers have improved and developed their initial ideas. They are designing and creating three prototypes of the next generation of digital urban and commons gardens. Through the structure that they are building they will put big data in the hands of the urban farmers and the urban gardeners.
Their work has been facilitated by two experts: arch. Silvia Berardinelli and Marco Falasca, architecture student part of two groups developing innovative structures in the cities. They gave the students the basis and their know-how to build these three prototypes and to make them stable and safe.
Labgovers have almost finished to build those three prototypes: one is for studying, the other is dedicated to chill and have a break and the third is made for work. They are all dedicated to the strengthening of a community, and to raise awareness about themes that are relevant for the individual and collective wellness such as sustainable agriculture, nutrition, diet, sport, tech justice, and many more.
Labgovers have still something to do: they will have to finish their work and to apply tech tools to the prototypes. At the same time they are designing and developing the digital platform that will be linked to the structures.
Save the date: next Saturday, 23rd March we will host the second EDU@LabGov community gardening session in Luiss Community Garden from 10 am to 13am.
The LabGovers will work in order to improve and complete the prototype of the platform that they are building. This session will represent a fundamental moment to practically apply what they have learnt during the first three modules in the classroom. This is not only a didactic moment, it is a collaborative practice that they will see to bud a project on which the LabGovers (students of the Urban Clinic of LabGov) are assiduously working and with passion. The third workshop of the Urban Clinic EDU@LabGov 2019 took place on Friday the 15th of March into the Viale Romania Campus of LUISS University. The workshop has inaugurated the start of the third module of the course. The module was dedicated to “Urban Law and Policy”. Indeed, the Laboratory hosted three important experts on these themes: prof. Christian Fernando Iaione, lawyer Nico Moravia, and dr. Paola Marzi.
Prof.
Iaione, the scientific co-director of LabGov, teaches Urban Law and Policy and
Urbanistic Law at LUISS University.
Lawyer
Moravia is partner of the law firm Pavia-Ansaldo (administrative law department).
Dr. Paola
Marzi is an official of the municipality of Rome as Head of the office for the
Urban Gardens, and has a long experience on these themes since she has
participated in the drafting of the Regulation of Urban Gardens of Rome.
The
workshop was introduced by the speech of Prof. Iaione, who talked about his
experiences in the urban regeneration field. He exposed the project of
Co-Bologna (http://co-bologna.it/): the
program started 7 years ago and its effects were such as to spread his
principles in Italian cities like Turin, Rome and Reggio-Emilia, but also in
others parts of the world like New York, Amsterdam and Sao Paulo.
All these
experiences demonstrated how important is to rewrite administrative and
urbanistic legislation in order to face all the problems brought in the cities
by the changes of the third millennium. What is fundamental in this process is
the participative paradigm, that means involving as much as possible all the
different urban stakeholder in order to re-define the way of living the urban
centers.
Indeed, lawyer
Moravia showed how it worked in the roman context, by showing the case of the
Ex-Dogana: an un-used space, owned by Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, brought back
to life by the efforts of four young entrepreneurs. The cohesion of legal,
human and economics competences, made possible to find a new and simple
solution, like a temporary leasing contract, and create what now is one of the
most important experiences of this kind in Rome.
One of the
sectors where the participative paradigm is more successful and better applied
is the urban garden’s one. Dr. Marzi explained how gardens are the place where
it is possible to focus all the energies and differences of a neighborhood, not
only as a place where plants grow, but as an instrument of social inclusion,
that generates wellness and new solutions to co-live the city by building up new
forms of community.
Co-Working
The 3rd
Module of the Urban Clinic LabGov EDU 2019 continued with the Co-Working
session, held on March 16th. The co-working session is facilitated
by Chiara De Angelis, Friends of LabGov’s ex-president.
The
Co-Working session took place in the LUISS Campus of Viale Romania and it started
at 10 am with Pasquale Tedesco’s testimony, expert of Confagricoltura (http://www.confagricoltura.it/ita/).
He talked about
the importance of the relationship between Earth and Nature and the fortune to
enjoy some products that Earth offers.
After this
inspirational session, Chiara De Angelis explained the Labgovers service
design, an important passage to complete and improve the idea that they’re
developing during this A.A. of LabGov EDU. For this reason, the LabGovers were
divided into groups in order to select the “personas” (consumer type) of their
product/service, basing on their previous research.
In the afternoon, the LabGovers developed the user journey map to describe the possible experience consumers might have through the platform that they are developing.

Friday 15th March from 16pm to 18pm in the Luiss Campus, we will host a lecture of professor Christian Iaione about Urban Law and Policy, and we will hear the testimony of lawyer Nico Maravia from law firm Pavia & Ansaldo and of the dr. Paola Marzi from the Municipality of Rome, who will speak about the Regulation on the urban gardens that she wrote for the Municipality of Rome.
Saturday 16th march from 10am to 17pm, will be held the third session of co-working. It will be divided into two part. First, we will hear Pasquale Tedesco’s experience: he is an expert in environmental sustainability, sustainable and synergic agriculture and in the field of urban and social gardens. In the second part of co-working the EDU LabGov team, thanks to the guide of Chiara De Angelis and Daniela Patti, we will speak about the process of design focusing on the user journey maps. In this way, the LabGovers will analyze all the passages of their project, they will answer to the needs of the ‘personas’ (the users object of their project) and they will define the various sections and the categories of contents of the platform that they are developing.
The next meetings are very important in order to complete and improve the
idea that it is taking form more and more.
